Baldo is our resident rockstar and creative director here at The Hux.

 

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, he grew up in a family of folkloric musicians. He first approached music via the richness of Afro-Venezuela percussion in order to explore the roots and traditions of his people. His guitar is the instrument that has connected that heritage with more mainstream musical styles, such as pop, soul and funk.

 

Upon his arrival in London in 2014, Verdú founded Tonto Malembe, an acclaimed Afro-Venezuelan fusion band that has performed at major festivals including the Latin American Film Festival, Secret Garden Party, London Remixed Festival, Vagabond Festival and Glastonbury. In 2019, Verdú decided to focus on developing his solo career.
